Bookings open for new POM-S refresher course

The Royal College of Podiatry has developed a new seven-week online course to help podiatrists refresh their knowledge and build confidence in using their POM-S annotation.

Medicines

Bookings are now open for the College's new Prescription Only Medicines Sale and Supply (POM-S) refresher course, delivered through its Learning Academy.

The course is aimed at podiatrists who already hold POM-S annotation but do not routinely use it in practice.

It will revisit the knowledge and skills needed to safely sell and supply medicines under the exemptions framework.

It is not a route to obtaining POM-S annotation for the first time.

What will the course cover?

The online course begins on Friday 13 November, with new content released each week.

The programme will revisit pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, including drug target sites, and examine the medicines available to podiatrists under exemptions legislation.

It will also cover the safe use of medicines, governance and documentation, and adverse reactions and Yellow Card reporting.

Participants will explore how the Competency Framework for All Prescribers applies to POM-S practice.

The course combines recorded lectures, directed reading, interactive tasks and self-assessment. Each week will provide around half a day's study, which participants can complete at their own pace as the material becomes available.

Three live online webinars will offer opportunities to discuss the course content and ask questions. All three will be recorded for later viewing.

Participants who pass the final self-assessment quiz will receive a completion certificate.

The course costs £500 for members. Non-members and those wishing to make group bookings can find further information and register using the booking form on the Royal College of Podiatry website.

What happens next?

Bookings close at 5pm on Friday 6 November 2026.

The course begins on Friday 13 November.

Full programme details, webinar dates and booking information are available on the Royal College of Podiatry website.
