Podiatrists nominated for Advancing Healthcare Awards
Podiatry teams in Leeds and Belfast have been shortlisted in this year’s Advancing Healthcare Awards.

What’s happened
Podiatry teams have been shortlisted in two categories at the 2026 Advancing Healthcare Awards.
In the AHP Research Excellence Award category, the Leeds Community Healthcare Research Secondment Initiative has been nominated. The initiative includes Dr Jill Halstead-Rastrick, Clinical Research Lead at Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust, and the Leeds Community Healthcare research team.
In the Northern Ireland Government Award for Excellence in Community Partnership to Improve Population Health category, the No Show, Know Why initiative, which uses DNA (did not attend) data as a trigger for action, has been shortlisted. The project involves Ashling McElvanna, Principal Podiatrist, Jennifer Madden, Consultant Podiatrist and the podiatry team at Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.
Why this matters to members
The Advancing Healthcare Awards recognise the work of allied health professionals, healthcare scientists and support staff across the UK.
Recognition within these national, multi-profession awards highlights the contribution podiatry is making to research, service improvement and population health, particularly in areas such as access to care and reducing health inequalities.
What happens next
Winners will be announced at the Advancing Healthcare Awards ceremony in June.
