What’s happened 

The Journal of Foot and Ankle Research (JFAR) is inviting applications for Associate Editors to support the operation and future development of the journal. 

As a leading open access journal, JFAR publishes research across all aspects of policy, organisation, service delivery and clinical practice related to the assessment, diagnosis, prevention and management of foot and ankle disorders. 

The journal is overseen by two Editors-in-Chief: Dr Andrew Buldt, representing APodA, and Professor Sarah Curran, representing the RCPod. 

What you’ll do 

• Manage manuscripts through the peer-review process. 

• Select and liaise with reviewers. 

• Assess reviewer feedback and make recommendations to the Editors-in-Chief. 

• Apply research integrity and publishing ethics. 

• Attend regular virtual editorial board meetings. 

• Contribute to the continued development of JFAR.

Becoming an Associate Editor offers members the opportunity to contribute to one of podiatry’s leading international journals, developing editorial experience while supporting the peer review and publication of high-quality research. 

JFAR is an ISI-listed, peer-reviewed journal that has been in publication since 2008.  

The journal’s readership has grown steadily. It has a worldwide readership and attracts authors from across the globe. 

JFAR’s impact factor is 2.9, reflecting how frequently its articles are cited in other academic publications. 

As part of their membership, Royal College of Podiatry members receive free access to JFAR, including peer-reviewed research articles, reviews, editorials, research protocols and commentaries. 

Members can also submit papers for consideration free of charge.  If accepted, their work will reach a wide, international audience.

Successful applicants will initially be appointed for three years, with the possibility of renewal, subject to approval by Wiley.
