What’s happened

The Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) is inviting applications for a new Chair to lead its Council and oversee delivery of its new strategy through to 2031.

The HCPC regulates 15 health and care professions across the UK, including podiatry.

Working alongside the Council, Chief Executive and Registrar, and Executive Team, the successful applicant will provide strategic leadership and help guide the organisation through its next phase of development.

The HCPC is particularly interested in applications from:

  • registrant and lay candidates

  • candidates from all four nations

  • candidates with substantial chairing and board-level leadership experience

Why this matters to members

As the regulator for podiatrists and 14 other professions, the HCPC plays an important role in maintaining public confidence in professional standards and protecting the public.

The Chair will help set the organisation’s strategic direction and provide leadership as the HCPC delivers its new corporate strategy.

What happens next

Applications are open until 4 August 2026.

Interviews will take place on 13 and 14 October before a panel chaired by an independent person.

Further information about the role, including how to apply, is available on the HCPC website.
