Biomechanics of Gait returns for second year
The Royal College of Podiatry's Biomechanics of Gait course returns for a second year, offering core biomechanics principles and techniques that can be applied in clinical practice.
What’s happened
Bookings have opened for a second intake of the Biomechanics of Gait course following a successful first cohort. The new programme includes revised and expanded case study content.
The course has been developed by Dr Helen Branthwaite, Chief Clinical Advisor at the Royal College of Podiatry. The module is led by Alaa Razak, Chair of MSK: UK, the College's musculoskeletal specialist advisory group and combines self-paced online learning with live interactive webinars.
Developed in line with the College's professional standards, it is delivered in partnership with Ultimate Podiatrist and sponsored by Gait and Motion Technology Ltd.
Why this matters for members
The course is intended for podiatrists working in general practice, musculoskeletal, sports and rehabilitation settings who want to develop their understanding of gait analysis and biomechanics.
Through four structured learning modules, participants explore the principles of biomechanics and how they can be applied in everyday clinical decision-making.
Across four online modules and three live webinars, you’ll learn how to:
understand the mechanics behind human movement with biomechanical principles of stress, strain, load and force
assess gait across the lifespan
apply biomechanics to clinical assessment and treatment
use tools such as video analysis, plantar pressure systems, inertial measurement units and electromyography
strengthen your clinical reasoning with current evidence and real case studies
Learning includes recorded lectures, practical activities, clinical cases and live discussion opportunities. Participants receive a certificate of completion for their CPD records.

The course costs £300 for Royal College of Podiatry members.
