The Royal College of Podiatry is bringing back its Foot in Diabetes course. 

The enhanced-level programme has been developed with FDUK and a multidisciplinary group of experts, with teaching covering the assessment and management of the diabetic foot.  

The course is intended to support podiatrists working at Band 6 level or for those looking to progress towards Band 7.  

Other regulated healthcare professionals, such as diabetes specialist nurses and GPs, can also register for the course.  

What will the course cover? 

Foot in Diabetes is a six-week online module, beginning on Friday 23 October. 

New content will be released online every Friday through the Royal College of Podiatry Learning Academy.  

The course will run until early December. 

The programme, which will also feature live webinars, will take participants through the pathophysiology and aetiology of diabetes and how these contribute to diabetic foot complications. 

It will also explore neurological and vascular assessment and intervention, ulceration and its treatment, and approaches to offloading and limb salvage, including footwear, casting and surgical options. 

There will also be a connection with this year's Podiatry 2026 conference programme. The principles covered in the course will complement the practical learning available in the casting session on the Immersive Learning Day on Saturday 28 November 2026. The session can be booked separately.

Foot in Diabetes costs £350 for RCPod members and £700 for non-members. 

What happens next? 

The first content will be released on Friday 23 October, with new course content following each Friday for six weeks.

The College team is currently preparing the course for booking. Full details of how to book and access the course will be announced shortly.
