Podiatrists and podiatry services regularly feature in local, regional and national media. Whether highlighting patient care, professional achievements, research, community or charity work, this coverage helps raise awareness of the profession and the difference it makes to people's lives.

Hospital director wins national award for supporting careers in podiatry

Northamptonshire Telegraph celebrated Professor Ganesh Baliah’s win in the Royal College of Podiatry’s recent awards. The piece includes a new interview with Ganesh – and his colleagues – on his win, as well as coverage about his multifaceted career.
University of Brighton trio shortlisted for podiatry awards

Sticking with the Awards coverage, The Argus, one of Sussex's longest-established local newspapers, covered several award nominees from the area. It included Student of the Year winner, Arham Khalid, as well as placement educators Simon Croucher and Florentin Baciu.

New College Durham opens podiatry clinic after investment

Meanwhile, in the north of England, Gavin Engelbrecht on The Northern Echo reports on New College Durham’s new podiatry clinic. The college invested £250,000 to upgrade its Bishop Auckland Podiatry Clinic – modernising treatment rooms and improving patient facilities. (The Royal College of Podiatry’s Head of Education and Quality Assurance, Coreen Beckford, attended the opening).

New ‘Smart Sock’ to detect and prevent diabetic foot syndrome being created by a Coventry University led research consortium

And an interesting bit of news out of Coventry University. A new ‘smart sock’ to help detect and potentially prevent diabetic foot complications is in the works. Researchers behind the STAND project – Sensing Textiles enabled with Advanced Novel materials for Diabetic foot care – are developing a wearable system designed to help detect and potentially prevent diabetic foot complications.

Community Assessment Day brings healthcare closer to home for rural communities

Finally, in Wales, Betsi Badwaladr University Health Board reported on their recent Community Assessment Day. More than 100 patients from across south Gwynedd benefited from faster access to specialist healthcare services, including podiatry, during the one-day event.
